DURHAMVILLE- Walter G. Hiscox, 75, of Maple Lane, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by those he loved,Thursday evening, November 11, 2021.Born in Oneida on September 21, 1946, he was the son of James E. and Ethel Wells Hiscox. A lifelong resident of the area, Walt was a graduate of Oneida High School, Utica College and Syracuse University where he earned his MBA. He married Constance DeAngelo in Rome on May 29, 1971.Prior to his retirement, Walt was employed by Bailey and Haskell Insurance as a broker. He had previously been employed by General Electric, Liberty Mutual and DeAngelo Insurance. Walt was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Viet Nam, during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.He loved baseball and participated in different levels all his life and eventually became an umpire, played hockey and was an avid reader, was a life member of the Durhamville Fire Department and served as a fire commissioner. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Walt was a communicant of St. Francis and St. Joseph’s Churches.Surviving besides his wife, Constance are his daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Crowley of Durhamville; three sons, Walter G. (Julie) Hiscox Jr. of Orange Park, FL, Paul W. (Michelle) Hiscox of Canton, CT and Edward L. (Gina) Hiscox of Homer; twelve grandchildren; one brother, William G. Hiscox and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two step brothers, James E. Hiscox and John B. Hiscox, and a foster daughter, Debra Balzano on February 11, 2020.Funeral services will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday morning from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida and 10AM from St. Joseph’s Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Nathan Brooks, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 3-7PM.
