Lawrence E. Merrell March 1, 2011 Lawrence E. Merrell, 68, of Canastota, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in the Oneida Extended Care Facility. He was born January 7, 1943, in Canastota, the son of Herbert and Ann Whipple Merrell. He had been employed with Carrier United Technologies for 35 years, in buildings TR 1 and TR 3, retiring in 2001. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Stan Covert and their son, Jason of DeRuyter; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and James Thorpe of Oneida and Cynthia and Donald Gregory of Oriskany Falls; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, corner of Broad and Stone Sts., Oneida. The family will receive friends at the service. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to Wanderers Rest Humane Association in Canastota.
