Asheville - Barry Donald Gardner (age 76) died on March 21, 2022 at home with family by his side.

Born in Oneida New York, he was the son of Elinor and Donald Gardner. Barry served 4 years in the US Navy on the USS Bordelon. He was employed by Metropolitan Life and Life of Virginia. He was retired from Lowes as a kitchen designer of 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, antiques, nature, restoring antique vehicles and gardening. He will be remembered for his love of family, service to his country, quick wit and most of all kindness to everyone.

He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Gardner, daughter, Tara Hanline, son, Barry Alan Gardner and daughter Patricia Hensley, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister Donna as well as extended family and myriad friends that he loved like family, including his special dog Maggie and cat Millie. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Charlene, and brother Ronald.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home Tunnel Road with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
