 ROME >> William E. Allen at the age of 69, of Mill Road, Rome, N.Y. 13440, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 5, 2014, in the Rome Memorial Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Oneida, on Dec. 5, 1944, he was the son of LeRoy and Agnes (Bitter) Allen. A lifelong resident of the area, Bill was a graduate of Oneida High School and was in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in September 1967.
He was formerly married to Rosalie Broniszewski, of Oneida, from 1968-1976. Bill married Rose (Derenda) Allen on May 13, 2013, in Rome, N.Y. They shared a loving relationship since 2002.
Bill was active in the community. He participated in AA for over 26 years and was a participant in Rome Memorial's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Class for five years, both of which brought pride and happiness into his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his pets, Charlie, Willie and Perry.
Surviving are his wife, Rose; one daughter and son-in-law, Lauralee (Allen) and William Bennett of Oneida; four step-children, Ronald Babcock, Pamela Babcock, and Timothy Babcock of Sandy Creek, and Cynthia Babcock of New York Mills; two granddaughters, Courtney Bennett of South Trenton and Kendall Bennett of Oneida; five step-grandchildren, Nicole Bennett of Lee Center, Kaylen Ayers, Steven Hawver, William Hawver and Brad Hawver Jr. of New York Mills; two nephews, Fred Snyder of Oneida and Kevin Snyder of Oneida, and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Linda Snyder and his mother, Agnes Allen.
